Getting started

How do I sign in to POS?
  1. Open Taro POS and enter the email, username or phone number registered for your employee, plus the password.
  2. Choose an outlet you are assigned to. If login fails, ask an admin to check your active account, outlet assignment and login details. Never share passwords here.
What is the difference between POS and back office?
  1. Use POS for daily orders, checkout, cashier messages, shifts and member service.
  2. Use back office for catalog setup, employees and roles, business settings, promotions, inventory and detailed reports. Select the correct company and outlet first.
How do I switch to the correct outlet?
  1. In back office, use the outlet selector at the top. In POS, use the available outlet selection in your session.
  2. Check the displayed outlet name before changing settings or creating an order. Missing outlets usually require an admin to update your store assignment.
What should I check before my first sale?
  1. Confirm your outlet, items and prices, payment methods, and any taxes or service charges in back office.
  2. In POS, open the shift with the actual opening cash when required. Confirm connectivity and printer routing, then verify one sample bill before serving customers.
Why are some features missing or locked?
  1. Select the correct outlet, then check its subscription and enabled services in Service Center. One company can have many outlets; each outlet has its own plan, add-ons and expiry date. Upgrading one outlet does not upgrade the others.
  2. Ask an admin to check your role permissions and outlet assignment too. A subscription does not automatically grant every employee access.
Where can I find help inside back office?
  1. Choose Taro POS Guide to open the Help Center, search screen guides or start the guided introduction.
  2. Use Explain a control for field-level help. You can change how often tips appear without changing business records.

Orders & checkout

How do I create and place an order?
  1. In Cashier, start a new ticket or select a table, choose the service type, then add menu items, quantities and any required choices.
  2. Review the ticket and tap Order to place the new items. Adding an item to the tray is not the same as placing or paying for the order.
How do I add items to an existing table?
  1. Open the table and its active bill, return to the menu if needed, and select the additional items.
  2. Check the new draft lines and tap Order to submit them to that bill. If there are no new draft items, Order may be grey; Pay is for the existing bill.
How do I change the table or dine-in/takeaway/delivery type?
  1. For an active order, open Edit order → Change (Ubah). Choose the new table and/or service type offered for the outlet.
  2. Confirm and recheck the table, takeaway labels, delivery details and totals; service-type rules can affect fees or availability.
How do I order a combo?
  1. Select the combo card. Choose the required number of products in each group and complete any required options for its components.
  2. Review the selected components, quantity and price, then confirm to add the combo to the ticket and tap Order when ready.
What does Hold mean on an item?
  1. Use the Hold label on an item that should wait for kitchen processing until the bill is paid. It is still part of the bill.
  2. Review held items before checkout. Do not use Fire All unless you deliberately want to send the relevant items for processing now.
How do I mark an item as a free gift?
  1. In the item options, select Gift (Hadiah) where allowed, or use the permitted Free checkout action.
  2. Confirm the zero-price result and retain the item on the ticket for kitchen and reporting. Non-discounted/protected products cannot be made free through these actions.
How do I checkout and take payment?
  1. Open the bill and Pay/Checkout. Check the member, discounts, taxes, fees and remaining amount due before selecting a payment method.
  2. For cash, enter the amount received and verify change. Confirm payment only after the actual money or transfer is received, then inspect the receipt and paid status.
How do I split a bill?
  1. On an open bill, choose Split / Pisah Bill-Meja and select the items and quantities to separate.
  2. Confirm the destination offered by the split screen, then review both resulting bills before taking payment so no item is charged twice.
How do I cancel an entire order or table bill?
  1. Open Edit order → Cancel (Batalkan) for the intended bill. Enter the cancellation reason; this is not just closing the screen.
  2. Review the confirmation carefully. Check the cancelled record in Orders; paid orders require the appropriate refund workflow rather than treating cancellation as returned money.
How do I cancel held items or remove items in a batch?
  1. Open Edit order. Cancel Hold / Batal Tahan targets unpaid items marked Hold; Batch Return lets you select multiple eligible items.
  2. Review quantities and the operation reason before confirming. Recheck the bill total and remaining kitchen items afterwards.
How do I refund a paid order?
  1. Locate the paid bill in Orders and open the available Refund action. Select eligible items/amounts and supply any required reason or admin approval.
  2. Verify the refund method and amount before confirming. Return the actual money through the agreed method and reconcile the refund record in payment reports.
How do I change an item price for one order or permanently?
  1. Use Edit price on the menu item. Choose This order only for a one-off price or Update menu price for a lasting catalog change.
  2. Enter the price and save; the item is added to the draft, not automatically placed. A restricted cashier must obtain an active same-company admin’s PIN approval.

Discounts & promotions

How do I add a discount to the whole bill?
  1. At checkout choose Discount All. Enter the percentage or fixed amount offered by the form, and select an operation reason if required.
  2. Confirm and check the discount row and final total. Protected non-discounted items stay excluded; the action also depends on sales settings and your permissions.
How do I discount only selected items?
  1. Choose Partial Discount at checkout, select the eligible items, and enter a percentage between 0 and 100.
  2. Confirm and inspect the affected lines. Select All selects eligible lines only; non-discounted items cannot be selected.
How do I remove a discount?
  1. Open the checkout bill and choose Clear Discount / Hapus Diskon. Review which adjustments the confirmation will clear.
  2. Check the new amount due before payment. Clearing a bill adjustment does not delete its back-office promotion or coupon definition.
How do I create a promotion in back office?
  1. Open Promotion → Promotion, add a promotion, choose its discount plan and eligible items or order scope.
  2. Set dates, weekdays, time window, minimum spend, outlets/channels and stacking rules as applicable. Save, then verify eligibility on a matching POS bill or customer menu.
What does “Only available at cashier” mean?
  1. Enable this promotion option when the discount should be offered at POS rather than on the online store or table-QR menu.
  2. Cashier-only promotions are not customer-facing online discounts. If you want guests to see a promotion online, disable that option and check its schedule, channel and outlet eligibility.
Why is a promotion not applying?
  1. Check active status, outlet, sales channel/type, dates and local time, minimum spend, selected products and member requirements.
  2. Check stacking rules, usage limits and non-discounted products. Refresh POS after saving settings and use a bill that actually meets the promotion conditions.
How do I create and use a coupon?
  1. In back office open Promotion → Coupon (or Items coupon), configure the code, benefit, validity and eligibility, then save.
  2. At POS checkout choose Coupon and select or enter the eligible coupon. Review the resulting discount; a code alone does not override member, date, product or usage restrictions.
How do I use a voucher at checkout?
  1. Configure voucher definitions and allowed values in back office → Promotion → Voucher.
  2. On a qualifying bill, choose Voucher, select the available voucher/value and permitted quantity, then confirm and verify the reduction and remaining amount due.
Why can an item not receive a discount or gift?
  1. Check the item or combo’s Non-discounted setting in Library. Protected products are excluded from discount and gift actions, including member-price benefits.
  2. Do not try to bypass this protection through checkout. Ask an authorized admin to review the catalog setting if the product was configured incorrectly.

Members & top-ups

How do I attach a member to a bill?
  1. Use + Member on the ticket or checkout, then search by the member details offered on the screen and select the correct customer.
  2. Check the member name and eligible card/benefits before paying. A similarly named customer or a member from another company is not interchangeable.
How do I register a member?
  1. Open POS → Member or back office → Member → Member MGT and use Add/Register where your role allows it. Enter the required customer details.
  2. Choose an eligible card/level if your setup uses cards, save and verify the new profile. Collect customer information with their consent.
How do I apply member prices?
  1. Configure the item/combo member price and the card’s benefits in back office, then attach the correct member to the bill.
  2. Use Member Price at checkout where available and verify eligible line prices. An attached member does not remove product protection or card eligibility rules.
How do I top up a member card?
  1. In POS → Member, select the member and eligible prepaid card, then choose Top up. Enter a custom amount or choose an available top-up plan.
  2. Continue to checkout, choose the actual money payment method and confirm only after receiving it. Verify the wallet credit and new balance; this is not a sales order.
Why is there no Top up button for a member?
  1. The member needs an eligible card with prepaid balance enabled. In back office → Member → Card benefits, check the card configuration.
  2. Check whether the card is active, unfrozen and allowed at this outlet, and whether your role can top up. Refresh POS after saving the correction.
How do member points work at checkout?
  1. Set earning and redemption rules in back office → Member → Points, including the relevant card/level benefits.
  2. Attach the member before checkout. Use Points only when the member and bill qualify; verify the redeemable amount and final points balance. Non-member bills do not need a points action.
How does a customer pay with member-card balance?
  1. Attach the correct member/card to the bill, then choose Member Card as the payment method if the card is eligible.
  2. Verify the available balance and amount being deducted. A wallet payment spends previously topped-up money; it is not another cash top-up.

Online store & QR

What happens after a guest submits a table-QR order?
  1. The request waits for cashier action; it is not yet a placed kitchen order. In POS → Messages, inspect the incoming QR order and its table/items.
  2. Approve to add/place the eligible order, or Reject with the required details. Guests can check approval status; do not promise kitchen processing before acceptance.
How do I publish my online menu?
  1. In back office → Online Store, configure the online outlet and customer ordering settings; make sure the intended items and service types are available online.
  2. Review Live customer preview, save the changes and open the published menu/QR as a guest. Check prices, options, availability and order type before sharing.
How do I create a table QR code?
  1. Create the table and its seating/group in back office → Tables, then use the table/QR-Code tools for the correct outlet.
  2. Open or scan the generated code and confirm the intended outlet, dine-in context and table number before printing or distributing it.
Can a guest return to an ongoing order on the same device?
  1. Use the same browser and outlet link to revisit the menu; the saved customer order reference can restore ongoing order/status access.
  2. Do not clear site data or use private browsing if you want it remembered. This is a device/browser convenience, not proof of identity or a way to view another customer’s order.
How do I change my storefront background and find menu items?
  1. In back office → Online Store → Online outlets, edit the customer-facing background/cover image and check Live customer preview before saving.
  2. On the public menu, guests can search by item name below the menu heading. Test the cover and search on a phone-sized screen as well.
Where do I configure online delivery?
  1. Open back office → Online Store → Delivery settings. Configure availability, opening hours, radius, minimum order and the offered fee rules.
  2. Save and try a guest order with an eligible address. Review the delivery fee and total, and confirm the POS order is classified as delivery.

Items & inventory

How do I add a menu item?
  1. Open back office → Library → Item and choose Add. Enter the name, category, sale price and required fields; configure pictures, options and availability as needed.
  2. Save, then check the item in the correct POS outlet and online channel if enabled. Creating a draft form alone does not publish an item.
How do I set variants and toppings?
  1. Create reusable choice groups in Library → Variant and priced add-ons in Topping, then bind the relevant choices to each item.
  2. Set required selections and allowed quantities. Test the item in POS and online to confirm choices, limits and any configured price changes match.
How do I configure a selectable combo in back office?
  1. Open Library → Combos, add the combo and set its price, category and component groups using existing items.
  2. Set the required selections/quantities for each group, save and open the combo in POS. Confirm selection counts, component options and the final bundle price.
How do I mark a specific item as sold out?
  1. In POS → Sold Out, select Item or Toppings, search for the product and open it. Change the Sold out toggle and Confirm.
  2. Use Sync/refresh where needed, then check the product in POS and the guest menu. To restore availability, turn Sold out off and confirm again.
How do I manage seasonal items and prices?
  1. Configure the item in back-office Library. Use POS → Seasonal Items to create or edit seasonal price windows where your role allows it; item availability is controlled by its separate catalog rules.
  2. Check Employees → Roles if a cashier can view but cannot change seasonal prices. Verify the effective price inside and outside the configured window, and check availability separately.
How do I import items or other records from Excel?
  1. Open the relevant back-office list and use its Import from Excel tool. Download the offered template or follow the workbook instructions for that specific import.
  2. Select the correct destination outlet, upload and validate. Fix the reported row errors and inspect the preview before committing; back up valuable data before a bulk import.
How do I link ingredients to a recipe?
  1. Create ingredients with the correct units and costs in Ingredient → Ingredient library, then configure the item’s Ingredient ratio/recipe.
  2. Use real quantities in the matching units and record stock-in. Check stock movements and recipe costs after a qualifying sale; wrong units or missing costs make inventory and profit misleading.
How do I record stock receipts, waste and stock counts?
  1. Use Tracking → Item in/Item out for direct stock, or Ingredient in/out for ingredient movements. Record quantities, dates, suppliers and reasons as required.
  2. Use Stock opname for a physical count adjustment, not for ordinary sales. Review the movement trail and units before confirming to avoid duplicate deductions or receipts.

Reports & bookkeeping

How do I read the sales report?
  1. Open back office → Report → Sales reports and choose the correct outlet, date range and reporting period.
  2. Compare sales, discounts, returns, tax/fees and the paid/net figures shown. Open Order history for individual bills; export the same filtered view when reconciling.
How do I read profit and loss (PnL)?
  1. Open the back-office Profit & Loss report and choose the outlet and period. Review revenue, recorded costs/COGS, operating income/expenses and the resulting profit.
  2. Confirm item/ingredient costs and bookkeeping entries are complete. Missing costs can overstate profit; member-card top-ups are stored-value funding, not merchandise sales revenue.
How do I record expenditure or other income in POS?
  1. Open POS → Bookkeeping and add the appropriate expenditure or income entry. Select the category and actual payment method, then enter amount, date and memo.
  2. Save once and verify the entry in back-office Bookkeeping and the matching report period. Do not record an ordinary POS sale again as other income.
Where can I see member top-up reports?
  1. In back office open Report → Member Top-ups and filter the outlet, period and member as needed.
  2. Compare top-up received, refunded, net received and wallet credit. Money received can differ from wallet credit when a plan includes a bonus; the ledger includes reversal entries.
How do I reconcile cash, card and transfer payments?
  1. Open Payment reports for the same outlet/date range and inspect each payment method, refunds and remaining receivables.
  2. Match cash with the counted drawer and non-cash with actual bank/payment-provider records. Member-wallet or points redemption is not new external money received.
Where can I see best-selling items, gifts and returns?
  1. Use Report → Item Sales Summary or the separate combo/topping summaries for the intended outlet and dates.
  2. Use Item Gift Summary and Item Return Summary for free items and returned quantities. Compare like-for-like filters; sold quantity and paid revenue are not the same measure.
How do I inspect an order’s detailed totals?
  1. Open back-office Library → Order or Report → Order history and filter by date, type or channel. Open the intended order code.
  2. Inspect items, discounts, fees, taxes, payments and status. A cancelled order can retain its audit details without contributing the same revenue as a paid sale.
Why does a report or closed shift show zero or unexpected totals?
  1. Check the active outlet, reporting dates/timezone, shift boundaries and whether the order is paid, pending, cancelled or refunded.
  2. Compare one known bill’s payment and timestamps with Order history. If the same filters still disagree, contact support with the order code and report period, not passwords or card secrets.
How do I download reports or supplier records?
  1. Set the intended filters in the report/list, then choose its available Download/Export option and Excel or PDF when offered.
  2. Open the downloaded file and check the outlet, dates, row count and totals. Export support and formats vary by screen; an export does not edit the underlying records.

Staff & settings

How do back-office roles control POS access?
  1. Open Employees → Roles and edit the role’s menu and POS operation permissions, then assign that role to the employee.
  2. Verify outlet assignments and save. Refresh or sign in again as that employee and test both an allowed and a restricted action; hiding a menu is not a substitute for permission checks.
When does a cashier need an admin PIN?
  1. Restricted actions such as price edits or settings changes can ask for approval on the same POS. An active admin from the same company must enter their own PIN.
  2. Any eligible same-company admin can approve; another company’s PIN does not grant access. Never publish an admin PIN in messages or this FAQ.
Where do I set tax and service charges for checkout?
  1. In back office → Library → Taxes/Extra Fee, create and enable the rule with its percentage or fixed amount. Configure global, item or sales-type scope and the relevant Sales settings.
  2. Save and refresh POS; eligible rules should appear automatically at checkout. Use Extra Fee to inspect the applied presets. A rule is not a universal default for every company.
How do I add an extra fee or tip to one bill?
  1. At checkout open Extra Fee to review Preset Plan or use Customize for a permitted one-off fee. Use Tip for the bill’s tip amount.
  2. Check the name, percentage/fixed basis and updated total before confirming. A custom bill fee does not automatically create a permanent back-office rule.
How do I enable payment methods in POS?
  1. Open back office → Business Settings → Payments and configure the methods used at the outlet, such as cash, QRIS, card or transfer.
  2. Save and refresh POS, then check the checkout payment tiles. Selecting a method records it in Taro POS; do not assume it proves an external transfer or card settlement succeeded.
How do I open and close a cashier shift?
  1. In POS → Shift, open with the actual opening cash. During the shift, keep sales, refunds and bookkeeping entries attached to the correct outlet/session.
  2. At closing, count the real cash and enter the requested closing amounts. Review expected versus counted cash and inspect the closed-shift history instead of assuming they must be identical.
How do I record employee attendance?
  1. Open POS → Attendance and use the available clock-in/clock-out action for the correct employee.
  2. Check assigned schedules in back office → Employees → Shift and review attendance records. Employee attendance and the cashier’s cash-register shift are separate records.
How can a cashier log out?
  1. Open the profile/account control in POS and choose Log out. Restricted cashiers still need an accessible way to end their own session.
  2. Finish or safely leave any draft work first. Logging out is not the same as closing the cashier shift; close/reconcile the shift separately when required.

Printers & connection

Why can my tablet not reach the local PC server?
  1. Keep the PC and tablet on the same reachable LAN/Wi-Fi, and keep the Taro POS server running. Use the PC’s LAN address; localhost on a tablet points to that tablet, not the PC.
  2. Check the configured server URL, port, Windows firewall and Wi-Fi isolation. A DHCP address change or Samsung switching networks can break the connection.
How do I add a Wi-Fi or LAN printer?
  1. Open Printer settings, choose a network printer and use discovery where available, or enter the printer’s LAN address manually. Set the port if your printer requires it.
  2. Assign the intended receipt/kitchen/label purpose and run a test print. Wi-Fi and cable printers must be reachable from the device or print service used by that connection.
How do I connect a Bluetooth printer reliably?
  1. Use the Android POS app with the required Nearby devices/Bluetooth permissions. Power on the printer with paper, pair/select the correct unit and connect it in Printer settings.
  2. Keep another phone/tablet from holding that same printer connection. If disconnected, check power/range and reconnect; browser POS cannot provide the same native Bluetooth printing support as the APK.
How do I route receipts, kitchen tickets and labels?
  1. In printer settings assign each printer’s purpose and the relevant item/category routing, then save. A single supported printer may serve more than one configured purpose.
  2. Use a small order to verify each intended output. Fire All in order editing sends relevant items for printing/processing; it is not checkout or proof of payment.
Can the printer beep after printing?
  1. Open the printer configuration and enable or disable its print-complete sound option. This requests sound from the printer, not the POS speaker.
  2. The hardware and its command support determine whether a beep is possible. Run a physical test print; a silent printer may not support the configured buzzer command.
What should I check when a ticket does not print?
  1. Check power, paper/cover, printer address or Bluetooth connection, and the purpose/category routing. Inspect POS → Print tasks for failed or waiting jobs.
  2. Fix the connection, then retry only the intended job and confirm physical output. A sent job is not proof paper printed; avoid repeated retries that create duplicate kitchen tickets.
